Sofira is our daughter that has Rhett syndrome. This is a rare disease that, at a young age, took away all her natural abilities. She is the most special child you will ever meet. Instantly she will win you over and melt your heart just by looking at you with her big smile and soul wrenching eyes. We do everything for her because she is unable to do anything for herself. She does cheer us on though as she claps non stop throughout the day.
For the first eight years of her life she was unable to speak anything, except one word... Obdee. She used that word to communicate everything she needed. We learned to understand all its different meanings and her many ways of saying it. She taught us how wonderful of a word it is and how you can express yourelf very well with it. She has a creative way of teaching us many things. Unfortunately she has recently had many very bad seizures. These have stopped her from being able to say it anymore, but she does however give us the largest smile every time she hears it.
Recently I looked up the meaning of the name Obidee, it was surprising to me but made perfect sense that it means Creative, Educational, and Confident. I couldn't have picked a better meaning to describe this word if I chose it myself. Because of our love for Sofira and what she taught us, this word will always have a very special place in our heart, just as she does. We offer it now for you to use and love, speak of it with reverence because it is a very special word.
